In the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Nepal takes on the Netherlands today at Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas, USA.

There will be a tough competition between these elite associate teams. There have been 12 T20I encounters between Nepal and the Netherlands to far. Out of their head-to-head meetings, Nepal has won five, lost six, and had one match finish in a draw. Interestingly, this match is their first-ever T20 World Cup matchup.

2015

Nepal left for a four-match T20I series in the Netherlands in July 2015. In the first two games, Nepal was defeated by 18 runs and a whopping 103 runs, being bowled out for 69 in the latter match while chasing a goal of 173.

In 2019, Nepal clinched a triumph over the Netherlands by 4 wickets during a five-nation series hosted in Oman.

Fast forward to 2021, in a triangular series on home soil, Nepal dominated the first match, winning by 9 wickets against the Netherlands. However, they faced a setback in the second encounter, losing by 3 wickets as the Netherlands chased down Nepal’s target of 207 runs in 19.3 overs, with Bas de Leede contributing a notable 81 runs. The culmination of the series witnessed the Netherlands being bowled out for 96 runs while chasing Nepal’s target of 239 runs.

In 2024

In March 2024, a triangular series featuring Nepal, Namibia, and the Netherlands unfolded at TU ground. The Netherlands clinched a narrow victory in the opening match, securing a 2-run win against Nepal. However, Nepal bounced back in the second match, restricting the Netherlands to 120 runs and securing a comfortable 6-wicket win. The final showdown saw the Netherlands successfully chasing Nepal’s target of 185 runs in 19.3 overs with 6 wickets in hand.
