UML’s Suhang Nembang Elected in Ilam-2

Suhang Nembang, the CPN UML candidate, emerged victorious in the House of Representatives by-poll held in Ilam constituency No. 2 on April 27. Nembang secured 27,772 votes, defeating his closest competitor, Dambar Bahadur Khadka from the Nepali Congress, who garnered 21,942 votes. This information was provided by the chief returning officer, Keshav Prasad Ghimire.

Notably, Nembang received support from the Nepal Pariwar Dal in addition to his party. Other candidates included Dakendra Sing Limbu (Thegim) with 11,457 votes, Milan Limbu from the Rastriya Swatantra Party with 5,050 votes, and Mani Bahadur Limbu from the Mangol National Organization with 816 votes. Out of the 115,889 registered voters in the constituency, 69,287 cast their ballots in the April 27 by-election.

A total of 19 candidates, representing 12 political parties and seven independents, contested in this election.
