Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued a notice urging the entertainment industry, including cinema halls, to meet their financial obligations regarding business and entertainment taxes. The notification, released by the metropolis, highlights the responsibility of various establishments such as cinema halls, casinos, video parlors, concert venues, musical events, dance clubs, cultural exhibition centers, theaters, amusement parks, water parks, kindergartens, futsal arenas, zumba centers, massage and spa facilities, swimming pools, and parks within the jurisdiction of Kathmandu Metropolitan City to settle their tax dues.

Furthermore, KMC has stressed the necessity for businesses to register and renew their licenses only upon presenting evidence of having paid their entertainment taxes to the Inland Revenue Department.

Additionally, KMC had previously made a specific request to film halls to comply with tax regulations. According to the directive, cinema halls are obligated to remit a five percent entertainment tax based on the revenue generated from ticket sales.
