April 14, Kathmandu, Nepal

On Sunday, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu generously donated 35 ambulances and 66 school buses to various organizations. The Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, personally handed over the keys of these vehicles, accompanied by Minister for Finance Barshaman Pun, as per a statement released by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

Furthermore, two ambulances were directly dispatched to earthquake-affected areas in Jajarkot and West Rukum districts. These donations were presented by a representative of the Indian Embassy in the presence of district officials and local communities.

For the past three decades, the Indian government has consistently donated ambulances and school buses to various organizations throughout Nepal as part of its celebrations for Independence Day and Republic Day. Minister Pun, speaking at the event, praised India’s ongoing developmental projects in Nepal and expressed confidence in their positive impact on bilateral relations and people-to-people connectivity. He emphasized the significant benefits of this flagship program for the people of Nepal.

Ambassador Srivastava highlighted that this initiative will bolster Nepal’s efforts to strengthen its healthcare and education infrastructure. He emphasized the depth of the development partnership between India and Nepal, noting its broad geographical reach across Nepal, which positively impacts lives and fosters tangible progress in Nepal’s development journey.

Since 1994, India has gifted a total of 1,009 ambulances and 300 school buses to Nepal, including those donated on this occasion. This gesture reflects India’s enduring support for Nepal’s efforts to improve its healthcare and education facilities, ensuring easier access to these vital services, as stated by the embassy.
